Practice certain dry fire drills more safely and efficiently with the TRT system. The slide needs to operate without being locked back by the follower to safely practice dry fire or reloading drills with the magazine in place. This is especially important for immediate action drills (tap, rack, fire) where the operator must reseat the magazine, rack the action, and then complete the dry fire exercise. Traditionally, dummy rounds are used for these drills, but they can be inconvenient to load and pick up, and there is always a risk of accidentally introducing a live round.

The TRT system eliminates the need for dummy rounds and reduces the risk of loading a live round during practice. When inserted into an empty magazine, the TRT positions the follower so that it does not engage the slide stop, allowing the slide to pass over it without stripping it from the magazine. For reloading practice, start with an empty magazine to lock the slide back, then insert the TRT-equipped magazine and complete the dry fire snap on target. With immediate action drills, start with the TRT magazine partially seated, dry fire the action, then fully seat the magazine, rack the slide, and complete the action.

For standard dry fire practice with the magazine seated, simply insert the magazine with TRT and cock the action before each presentation and dry fire. To remove the TRT from the magazine, use a pencil or small tool to engage the small port on the TRT. Some adjustments may be necessary for certain pistols with reverse indentions in the follower, such as the Shield 9MM. Remove about a 1/4" of the TRT's nose using a file, saw, moto tool, or low-speed grinder to ensure compatibility.

The TRT system is designed to allow the slide to pass over it smoothly without stripping it from the magazine, providing a safer and more efficient way to practice dry fire drills. It is recommended for use with the MantisX training system for optimal results.
